whats new
i turned 23 this month! thank god for that i felt like i had aged 10 years in the last 6 months. working on my social anxiety in therapy atm, hopefully october is the month i am able to approach strangers and talk to them like a normal person would. i started classes again this month too! and i have both of my favorite gay professors so life is good. im settled into my new room except i still need someone tall to hang my string lights but i love my new roomies so much they are awesome. and i got a second job! as a live event tech at school of art institute chicago! very excited to make more money. otherwise i am doing okay and i mean that. like i still get lingering moments of sadness and anger and nostalgia, but i am moving on to bigger and better things and trying my best to be happy about that. i am keeping myself busy as fuck to keep building the life i want and taking advantage of the fresh start life threw at me. but also i got sick twice this month which keeps me from being busy and enjoying life and instead i wallow in my bed :( also! playing phone tag with a plastic surgery office for top surgery. wont be seen til sept 2027 but its ok, im in no rush.started september with a BANG... trim lol. but i learned that my hairstylist’s evil roommate followed me on instagram bc she thought i was hot? after my stylist posted a reel of them doing my hair that one time... so i blocked them in solidarity which they found really funny. but i do not need any more bad vibes!!! we have been playing story like tag for months but i never made a move bc they followed me so... dodged a bullet.
i went to lesbian night at the empty bottle and had a fucking blast omg. i love lesbians. lwk the dj was ass but i was with my friends and ran into another friend ;) and made new friends. what a beautiful night i cant wait to do it again.
it was also a mega birthday week!!! it was roomie elinors birthday and my birthday so we went out dancing on friday and i had my birthday barcade+karaoke extravaganza. my strategy of inviting everyone i know really worked out for me because i felt so loved and like i really had community which was #needed after such a lonely summer.
i showcased a game at chicago indie games showcase! with my friend/cohort-mate joan. it was kind of long and tiring and i was exhausted from the weekend so not super fun but good to get myself out there and practice this kind of stuff.
my foster cat/rescue coconut got adopted! he is going to live with a wonderful couple in south loop who definitely are going to take very good care of him (they are DINKs). i miss him dearly but i am so happy he is living a life of luxury i could not provide for him lol.
i saw phoebe live from barricade and it was so incredible. what a show. the lighting and set design was so beautiful i was in awe the whole time. i cried twice during graceland too and scott street which if there are any phoebe songs to cry to its those. eva and i lined up at like 8am and i was an hour late to work but it was mega worth it. i didn’t get in trouble at all even though my absence was noted. also! it was a no phones show. i enjoyed the no phones vibe and it almost forced me to talk to the people around me which was nice. i played uno with strangers on the floor of the pit. overall a lovely night that we ended with taco bell <3
ok also i got free tickets to sunday riot fest. it was SO MUDDY AND COLD AND RAINY. i dont think they shouldve opened the park that day tbh and i honestly hope they dont come back to this park. but i saw pierce the veil with ye’amlak!! which was so fun im glad we stuck it out. also someone in the crowd asked if we were dating and then asked for our instagrams and i recognized her profile pic from hinge... get me OUT OF HERE.

i wont cry by remi wolf is genuinely so devastating i cried a little at work when i first listened to it. and then i asked my manager if i could leave work early and moved my therapy session so i can go to the early listening party on oct 1. but i had this playlist on repeat this month.

i started watching shameless and its pretty good? lowkey ahead of its time with the 12 episode seasons. also watched moonlight and bound with my roomies on our soup nights. its lovely.

i started but didnt finish this novel called jawfiller, which is a detective novel kind of but all of the characters are transgender and participate in this virtual simulated reality and they’re trying to find this one guy who went missing in the sim world. it would be a hit at the western mass lesbian bar tbh. like satirically woke.
